Bueno, vamos viendo.
Saludos!

Hi there, has anyone thought about testing or trying an alpha implementation of this new (and hopefully last) social interaction protocol? Here there is an explanation of what and why: https://www.w3.org/TR/social-web-protocols/

And a well-positioned one is ActivityPub , promoted by Evan Promodou from pump.io and Jessica Tallon with Chris Webber from GNU Mediagoblin.

In my opinion, supporting this protocol would help on the long run to unify a solid federation of free social networks, a united response against current monopolies. Each free social network will have its enhancements to this protocol, mainly security issues (confidentiality, authenticity, ...) but we will have a common language to integrate us all.

It has been discussed on the last hackmeeting of Spain last weak, and we may be able to find a dev group to start with.

What do you think about that?

You're welcome to implement an activitypub plugin.  There are some untested stubs of AS2jld conversion code somewhere (from a much earlier spec) and a pump.io "crosspost" plugin which you can build on.

I'm guessing you really don't know much about hubzilla and also know very little about previous efforts to unify the open social web. We've been down this road before.  "Here's a protocol. It solves all your problems." is not the answer. You don't even know what this project is at a fundamental level or have any idea the problem space in which we exist or the solutions we provide.

But feel free to give it a go.

Something really basic would probably work; but just like Diaspora it will probably have to come at the expense of nomadic identity, private resources (outside of messages and comments),  and a whole range of internal features which don't map to the messaging space.

Anyway, sure it's OK to do this. I started on it a year or so ago but my recent efforts have been more focused on core architecture and not so much on external services; and I kind of let that go.

No, I am aware that hubzilla has many features that others haven't: the nomadic identity, cross-login and personal webpages. Yes. And even e2e dm encryption, if I'm right. Obviously I don't know it much, but I have spent some time on it since long ago. Anyway, you mean that even the crossposting thing, like a "basic public message" can't be eventually working smoothly? There's an "update post" feature that diaspora doesn't have, for instance, but this isn't hubzilla's problem by now I guess.

I will continue to read and if you have warnings and advices all of them will be heartfully thanked :)
I'm not planning this for next week, maybe February will be a good start.
